Out of Cannes

Fui a Cannes. A experiência desse festival é algo que nunca vou deixar para trás, mesmo com toda a turbulência e percalços encontrados na viagem. Com certeza, o fato de não pertencer a um veículo de comunicação ou não ter milhares de seguidores fez a diferença.

Entretanto, quem se interessa em ficar se acotovelando para entrar numa sessão de cinema em meio àquele paraíso. Não que eu não seja cinéfilo, muito pelo contrário. Poucas vezes discuti e vivi cinema como no período do festival, mesmo não tendo condições de ficar em uma fila gigantesca, vestido de paletó e gravata para entrar numa sessão de cinema.

Mesmo assim, em um festival tão visado e renomado no mundo do cinema, não foi possível fugir a filas. Encontrei no passeio à beira da praia, ao me aventurar em pubs e bistrôs festivos, talvez os melhores momentos da viagem.

Enquanto as pessoas se amontoavam e subiam em escadas para ver as “celebridades” ao longe, decidi, após constatar essa triste realidade, aproveitar os atrativos que Cannes oferecia. O cinema... bom, esse continua presente no Brasil.

I went to Cannes. The experience of that festival is something I'll never forget, even with all the turbulence and setbacks I encountered on the trip. Certainly, not working for a media outlet or having thousands of followers made a difference.

However, who cares about jostling to get into a movie screening in the midst of that paradise? Not that I'm not a cinephile, quite the opposite. I've rarely discussed and experienced cinema as I did during the festival, even though I couldn't afford to stand in a gigantic line, dressed in a suit and tie, to get into a movie screening.

Even so, at such a sought-after and renowned festival in the film world, it wasn't possible to avoid the lines. I found the stroll along the beach, venturing into pubs and festive bistros, perhaps the best moments of the trip.

As people crowded together and climbed ladders to see the "celebrities" from afar, I decided, after realizing this sad reality, to take advantage of the attractions that Cannes offered. Cinema... well, that's still present in Brazil.
